Shadow Gaps - Ceilings and Walls now have a new compadre

Even though its always been the norm for centuries that crowns and skirtings are an integral part of the design of any given room, the sempiternal crowns and skirtings are now being replaced by Shadow Gaps. A Shadow Gap, as the name suggests, is an aperture created at the termination point either from the ceiling to the wall or from the wall to the floor. They visually creates an immaculate and seamless flow uptil the flooring. These can further be enhanced by inculcating a cove light to illuminate the edges of the beautiful ceiling or the flooring. Even though Shadow Gaps have been popular among commercial spaces for a while now, they have now firmly planted their space in contemporary and modern residential spaces in recent times. They have provided us with a well needed respite from the perpetual skirtings and crowns. The elimination of an additional material between the ceiling and the wall and then the flooring makes the space appear seemless and minimalistic yet luxurious letting the eye travel across that said space in a continuous motion. So the next time you select you favourite flooring, do not bother selecting the matching skirting, just ask your contractor for the trendy and sofisticated Shadow Gaps...
